More about the accommodation:
This advert is for an opportunity to join a missional Christian community, serving the neighbourhood through youth-work.
Christian Holt House is a Christian Missional Community (CHH) situated on the South Kilburn Estate, 5minutes walk from Queens Park Station. Residents commit to a shared way of life and to living in community with one another - sharing meals, participating in fellowship nights once a week and cleaning together. CHH seeks to be a community which empowers people to love God and love their neighbour. Its vision is to be a community centred on Jesus, seeking to share his transforming love and good news to those living on the South Kilburn Estate and beyond.
The main way it does this is through partnering with the OK Club, a Christian youth and children’s club on the South Kilburn Estate (next to CHH). As part of living at CHH, residents are required to volunteer at least 8 hours per week to support the ministry and work of the OK Club. This volunteering requirement is reflected by the very affordable rent (which includes food). There are a number of ways to volunteer, however the primary way is by working with children and young people during the youth club sessions which take place during afternoons and early evenings. Priority will be given to residents who can offer their voluntary time during these hours. However, in some circumstances, we would be willing to consider other ways of volunteering to support the operational side of the club, where the resident has relevant expertise - eg fundraising.
Each year, up to 10 residents, from a variety of backgrounds and working in different contexts, spend a year (and sometimes more) living in CHH. If you are passionate about your Christian faith and would like the opportunity to learn how to share it effectively in a challenging urban environment through both word and action, living in a community made up of people who share this vision, then CHH could be the place for you. Note - food is included in rent.
All residents must be able to undertake a DBS check before moving in, and provide two references - one of which must be someone based in the UK.
